Sun Excursion was established in 1999 when its owners felt tour operators were seeking higher standards of service for their customers. Because they were already operating in the hotel industry, Sun Excursion’s owners decided to create a destination-management company (DMC) that would offer the same quality of service as already provided in their hotels. This has been the key to our success.

The Puerto Vallarta office opened in the fall of 1999 and after nearly 10 years of operation, we are proud to say that we have become the No. 1 ground handler/DMC at this destination, successfully transporting well over 130,000 passengers a year and working with some of the major tour operators, including Transat (a world holiday travel leader with its Transat Holidays, Nolitours, Look voyages and Vacances Transat France brands), Tours Mont Royal, Mark Travel Corporation as well as JMC, Thomas Cook and Neckermann.

In October 2001, we extended our know-how into the Mexican Caribbean with the opening of two additional offices; one in Cancun and the other in Playa del Carmen, and in 2004, we started operations on the island of Cozumel. After all those successful years, we’ve positioned ourselves as one of the top two ground handler/DMC’s in the area, transporting more than 500,000 passengers a year and working with some of the major tour operators such as; Vacances Transat Holidays, Nolitours, Vacances Transat France, Look Voyages, Delta Vacations, Continental Airlines Vacations, Price Travel and Palace Resorts.

After many years of growth and success, we decided to once again broaden our horizons and purchase one of the major players in the Domincan Republic called Turissimo in November of 2007. Since establishing ourselves in the DR, we have increased considerably our operations managing over 300,000 passengers a year in the major destinations across the islands such as; Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, La Romana, Samana and the capital Santo Domingo.

As a ground handler, we provide quality airport transfers in a safe, luxurious fleet of buses and vans. Our team is composed of experienced bilingual airport representatives who assist all our arriving and departing guests.

We provide our customers with the latest information on carefully selected excursions at all our destinations with our team of experienced resort representatives. We pride ourselves on our close relationship with all the major tour suppliers.
